Birdcage Mug

There's something uniquely cheerful about this mug, and to be honest, it just makes me smile. It's made by a company called Lollipop Pottery, based out of Ohio, and while they're still working on their website, you can buy some of their mugs (including the birdcage one in the picture) from Shana Logic.

All of the mugs are hand-thrown, hand-painted with homemade glazes, and feature a pen and ink decal designed by the potters. And, according to their website, all of their products are "...lead free, food, dishwasher, and microwave safe...and very fun to use." I have to agree that they look fun to use :-)

Recycled Skateboard Jewelry

I was looking around on Etsy the other day, and I ran across something that I thought was a really cool idea. I never really thought about what happened to all the old skateboards from when we were kids (I imagined them hidden in the garage like my husband's, I guess), and it never occurred to me that someone could create something so pretty with them. I'm glad 2ReVert thought of the idea, though.

The picture I posted is one of their circle necklaces, but they also have other necklace shapes, rings, bangles, earrings, belt buckles, and even do special orders. Each piece is one-of-a-kind and according to their Etsy profile, they ship everything in recyclable packaging—you can't get much more environmentally friendly than this!
