Change Monster

Change MonsterI seem to be stuck in a cute character/monster phase these last few days, but I can't not post this little guy. Or, rather, this little girl. Little Miss Margaret will make any line more fun, and she may even force a grumpy cashier to crack a smile (and trust me, we need all the help we can get here in Brooklyn...).

Little Miss Margaret can be found on a website called stitchpixie, and it's made out of vinyl for all you vegans out there. And, to make you feel even better about buying it, stitchpixie gives 10% of all proceeds to charity. The charity highlighted on the website is World Vision, and the 10% right now is being used to sponsor a child in Zambia named Memory. Not only will you smile whenever you need change, you'll also feel all warm and squishy knowing that your purchase went much further than someone else's pocketbook.

Super Dog

Super DogThe artist doesn't really say what's going on in this print, but that can be part of the fun sometimes. Maybe the caped crusader is helping the ladybug find her spots or maybe she just needed help crossing the street. Once it's up on your wall, you can come up with a million stories.

The print was designed by Sion Lee, a designer living in Las Vegas, NV, and she's selling her art on a couple of places online. I found this print on imagekind, which is a really interesting site for finding some pretty cool art. The lowest price I found was $16.95, but imagekind gives you a ton of options, letting you pick everything from getting a simple print to having it framed to getting it printed on canvas. These options all change the price, of course, but it can be fun to see what the print would look like even if you decide to frame it yourself.

Fairybit Fairybot

Fairybit FairybotSure, your computer might be a big beige box, but that doesn't mean that your accessories have to be void of all personality, too. I've seen some cute usb flash drives in the last year or so, but Fairybit Fairybot is among my favorites. Not only is she fun to look at, she even has a story attached to her that you can read here. It starts off with "we, mimobots, have traveled a long time across multiple parallel systems to reach earth. we come from our beloved planet blõôh located in galaxy 4210 where we have been living harmoniously since the time of no age." How can you not like that?!?

Available from a company called mimoco, Fairybit Fairybot is just one of maybe 50 mimobot designs they have. Some of them are designed by contemporary toy artists and have limited runs, but the fairy is part of their Core Series, so she should be around for awhile. She's available in three sizes—1 GB, 2GB, and 4GB.

The Flirty Salad

Flirty Salad ApronThere's something very cute about this apron. Between the funky colors, green tie, and "Flirty Salad" pocket, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn't smile when they see this. Sure, an apron is suppose to be functional, but who says it can't be fun at the same time? The little details on this are great, too—the patterns on the salad leaves, tie, and piping are perfect, and the little face drawn on the salad bowl is adorable.

Sold on an artist's shop called snappyshop on Etsy, there are actually several different designs to choose from. I liked the salad one, but there's also an owl, some bacon and eggs, a coffee pot and cup, a chicken, and others. One for every personality :-) Oh, and in case you're wondering, the designer says that all the aprons are really sturdy and that they'll hold up in the wash...and if you're as clumsy as I am, that's pretty important...

Telegram Stationery

Telegram StationeryI love the idea of writing to people on fancy stationery, but it seems like email and phone calls are just so much easier. Whenever I actually do sit down to send an old-fashioned, hand-written letter, though, having some cool paper always makes it that much more special. There are tons of fun pieces out there, and the telegram stationery designed by 16 Sparrows is one of them.

16 Sparrows is based out of Chicago, and although I can't say with 100% confidence that these are printed on recycled paper, their website does say that "we are now printing most of our cards on recycled paper with soy-based inks." I'm sure that you could email to find out.

I wish that I had a clearer photo to post, but if you click on the image, you'll see all the great detail they put into these. I have a feeling that these are just as fun to get as they are to send.
