Vinila Greeting Cards

Vinila Greeting CardsWhenever it's time to send a card these days, it seems like I'm spending more and more time searching for just the right one—something fun (but not over-the-top) and a little different. I'm not interested in the common themes of shopping or shoes for women or a beer and TV remote for men, and it seems like those are everywhere. Just this morning, though, I ran across this set of greeting cards and I seriously think that they might have been designed just for me.

The set has six cards in it, each featuring a distinct little creature from the Vinila collection. Among the six are 'D' (who says "a little bit of bad is good"), Bella ("a gentle creature with a brilliant imagination"), and Puff (who "only eats organic and is a passionate activist. His mission is the propagation of everything cute and you're going to hear about it!"). Part of the fun with these cards, though, is that they come with little speech bubbles that you can fill in yourself to make the card say whatever you want. Very useful!

Zakka Wooden Box

Zakka Wooden BoxI love having little things to put little things in (it somehow makes me feel more organized...), and when I saw this wooden box, I thought it would be perfect for those buttons that inexplicably fall off when you get a new shirt. Why they can't sew buttons on is another issue all together, but until I have a chance to sew them back on, a little box like this one seems like the perfect place to keep them safe.

The Zakka Wooden Box is made by craftpudding, and it's available on Etsy. The listing says that you can choose from several designs (including a rabbit or a cup of coffee or a tree), but I liked the little girl and birdie the best. The box is only 1 5/8" by 2 1/4", but don't let its size fool you—it has a big personality to make up for it.

Rolling Pin Recipe Card Holder

Rolling Pin Recipe Card HolderI've been thinking about the recipe cards I posted about a few weeks ago, and I've decided that they're just too nice to smudge with fudgy fingers. So, I've been on the lookout for something that would keep them away from dirty hands, and I think that this will do the trick.

I don't normally expect to finds things like this on Amazon, but that's where I ran across this little rolling pin. From Portland, Oregon, it's made out of birch wood and has some very quaint red handles—just like an old-fashioned rolling pin. I like that it's a little old-school and I think it's going to look great with the recipe cards...plus, it's only $2.95.

Little Birdies Sticky Note Pad

Little Birdies Sticky Note PadIf you're anything like me, you've somehow accumulated about twenty-five pads of yellow sticky notes. I don't know how I got all of them, but they inevitably end up accumulating at the back of a drawer until I find them after months of collecting dust. I've recently decided to use them up in an effort to get rid of stuff I don't really use—a bit ironic, I guess, but there's no point in being wasteful—and once I use up my last yellow sticky, I'd be very happy to pull out this little notepad.

Created by a designer called Ghost Bassist on Shana Logic, the pads are 3" x 3" and they come with 50 stickies. At $6.00 a pad, they're definitely more expensive than the standard yellow ones, but sometimes a little extra money is worth it.

Envirosax: Mikado

Envirosax: MikadoI ran across some cool reusable bags this morning, so I thought that I'd just continue down the environmentally-friendly path I've been on for the last couple of days. These bags, created by a company called Envirosax, grabbed my attention with their pretty Japanese-inspired designs—they're sufficiently girly without going crazy. The set comes with five different designs, and while there are some other collections that were nice, this one was the one I liked the most.

I found these at a store called room 6, and on their site, they say that all five bags fit into a pouch that'll fit into a glove compartment. It also says that they're big and strong enough to replace two plastic grocery bags, so if you take all five bags, that should handle a fairly big shopping trip. Also, the Envirosax website says that it "uses renewable and recyclable products where possible, and is committed to operating on ecologically sustainable principles." I know that using reusable bags is a small step, but every little thing helps.
